After MANY years of interest, I’m thrilled to finally participate in the 2026 iteration of Resonance Collective’s New Explorative Oratorio generative summer workshop! This “delightfully inspiring summer camp for adults” challenges entrenched ensemble paradigms, opening new paths toward collaboration and creation. I’m really excited to expand both my musical skills and developmental methodologies with this exciting cohort.
There are three public concerts, each of which will no doubt expand what you thought possible in vocal performance. I’ll be performing in the culminating event:

… is a new oratorio we’ll rehearse and prepare in between collective workshops throughout the next week.

I just spent a week and a half as a professional dancer of all things (#laughingcrying). Truly, though, I feel incredibly fortunate to dive back into Conference of the Birds in preparation for the remount coming to the Irvine Barclay Center in January. Not sure yet whether tickets will be available to the public, though I heard they’re already going fast. You can revisit Attar’s epic at the links below, and maybe we’ll come to your part of the world next year!

I went to Doc Maynard’s house! Dating from 1858, the oldest extant structure in Seattle is now a private home close to the Alki landing point of the first colonizers. I also visited the Duwamish Longhouse for an eye-opening eco-tour of an ancient village location, learning about the decades of struggle to preserve and restore the site, and how the natural ecology fights to survive despite industrial and political forces constantly destroying it. I’m really looking forward to building these new perspectives into No Better Man for future development of the show.
(The “log cabin” is a replica [rebuilt from original lumber] of the Jackson Courthouse off the Cowlitz River, the first seat of government in Washington Territory where Maynard and other Oregon Trail crossers would’ve stopped on their way to Puget Sound)
